Q. What kind of music do you play?
Lots of different kinds. For our dance sets we mix rock, soul, swing, plus a little bit of country, reggae, disco--just about any style of dance music from the past half-century. For quieter moments like dinner or cocktails, we can do standards, soft rock, or classical pieces.
Q. I’ve been to parties where the band was too loud. Do we need to worry about this with you ?
No. We’re experienced and skilled enough to produce the right sound level for the room and the occasion, and usually the issue won’t even come up. However, if you’d like us to be softer (or louder!), just let us know. We’ll be more than happy to make the necessary adjustments.
Q. How much do you charge?
Our fee may vary quite a bit depending on several factors, including how long we’re playing, how far we’re traveling, and other details of the event and what you need from us. For this reason, we prefer to discuss fees directly with our clients rather than listing them on our website.
Q. Can you provide music for the ceremony, or for the cocktail hour?
Absolutely. We are versatile and well-trained enough to provide just about any kind of music you need, for whatever part of the event you choose. Just let us know what you’d like to hear, and chances are we’ll be able to do it.
Q. Can one of us (or one of our guests) join you on stage?
We're usually happy to welcome "guest artists," especially if we're given advance notice. We find it usually works better if guest artists only do one song, or at most two or three, but here too there are no hard and fast rules.
Q. Can you MC the cake-cutting, the special dances, and other parts of the festivities?
Sure. Just let us know what you need, preferably before the day of the event. We’d be happy to spend some time with you, either on the phone or in person, going over your ideas for these segments of the party.
Q. How do you dress?
In whatever style fits the tone of the occasion. We’ll perform in formal evening wear if that's the kind of party you've planned. Or if you want a more informal atmosphere, we can dress in relaxed, colorful styles. We'll take the initiative to make sure we know what your preferences are.
Q. How much time do you need to set up? And how large an area do you need to set up in?
In order to do a proper setup and make sure everything is working smoothly and sounding good, we need a minimum of two hours from the time we can enter the venue to the time guests begin to arrive. As for space, we have squeezed ourselves into remarkably small “postage stamp” stages, but for best results, allow an area about 20 feet wide by 12 feet deep.
Q. What else do I need to know about Firefly?
You need to know that we are always courteous and will go out of our way to accommodate any reasonable request from you, your guests, or other professionals involved in your party; that we have fun making music and are committed to sharing the fun with you and your guests; that we appreciate the honor of being asked to participate in your event, and will show that appreciation in every way possible. [Oh yeah, one more thing: We’re really, really _good_.]
